Are You Frustrated With Your Health? Here’s Why

Are You Frustrated With Your Health? Here’s Why

Are You Frustrated With Your Health? Here’s Why

Janet started to have stomach pain after eating. It gradually got worse, and she started coughing a lot. She made an appointment with her doctor—and started on a trail to complete frustration.

After five doctor visits to specialists, two scopes, and four drugs, her problems hadn’t noticeably improved. Except, now she wasn’t sleeping well because of the pain, and was fatigued at work.

What disturbed her was that this had all happened before. During her college years, Janet started having long and severe menstrual cycles that led to anemia (low blood iron that causes fatigue). Her doctor put her on birth control pills, which helped. But her periods had never been right since, and she feared to get off the birth control. Just like her digestive problems, her doctors had no solution, forcing her to live with her health problems.

Health Problems can be a Slippery Slope

Sadly, I can accurately predict Janet’s future health. The processes that underlie her problems are not medically treatable and will continue to get worse.

Janet will add a new symptom each year or two from now on. She’ll probably develop high cholesterol, joint pain, and more menstrual problems. She may become infertile.

There are thousands of health conditions that are like Janet’s, and the onset of these problems can predict that more will appear. Most of these problems have no effective medical cure, only management of symptoms from drugs.

Two Kinds of Health Conditions

Although this isn’t the preferred terminology, doctors would agree that health conditions fall into two primary groups:

  1. Medically curable conditions
  2. Chronic conditions with no cure that sometimes can have their symptoms managed with lifetime drugs

Here’s the difference:

With curable diseases, the symptom of the disease is also the cause of the disease.

Symptom: broken arm

Cause of the symptom: the arm is broken.

If you treat the symptom, you are treating the cause of the problem. Doctors are great at treating specific, observable problems (like bone fractures).

With chronic diseases, there’s no apparent cause for the problem. For example, with diabetes, there’s no “smoking gun,” no observable problem that, if corrected, would resolve the disease. In Janet’s case, lab tests and scopes revealed nothing abnormal, so there’s nothing for her doctors to treat. The only medical solution is drugs to try to manage the symptoms.

Now the Bad News

An astounding 60% of the adult population of the US has one or more incurable (chronic) health problems. The chances are high that you’re one of the 60%.

Your problem might be relatively minor (acne, heartburn, allergies, sleep problems, back pain, etc.). Or your health could be seriously messing up your life (debilitating fatigue or depression, severe digestive problems, female hormone problems, diabetes, blood pressure, or heart disease).

Once you have a chronic disease, there’s a good chance you’ll develop more of them: 40% of the adult population of the US has more than one of these diseases.

The Cause of Chronic Disease

Chronic conditions come from a place where you might not think of looking.

Here is what happens:

Cause of Chronic Illness

Your body takes on damage every day of your life just from the process of living. For the past century, this damage has become increasingly more intense with toxins in the air, water, and food, highly-processed food with less nutrition, and constant emotional stress. Happily, your body is designed to monitor, maintain, and repair itself continually.

Chronic health problems begin when your body lags behind in the maintenance and healing process, with the damage happening more rapidly than your body can repair it. This “getting behind” occurs because of some specific stress or damage of a type that your body can’t heal.

The process usually starts slowly, with your body compensating for and hiding the damage from you. It can take years for the unrepaired damage to get entirely out of control and force your body to have symptoms. By this time, your body has many malfunctions, but no clear cause for them.

Your health has become a vast tangle of failed attempts by your body to heal itself.

With this confused, tangled, complex damage, it’s not a wonder that doctors are at a standstill trying to figure out a solution to these health problems.

There IS a Solution

Health care is ruled by conventional medicine. If these guys can’t cure a disease, they believe wholeheartedly that nothing else exists or would work, either.

So, you won’t find much information on solutions to chronic conditions written up in the New England Journal of Medicine or on the Harvard Medical School’s website. Instead, there are just more methods of managing the symptoms.

Yet, it’s entirely possible to recover partially or wholly from many chronic conditions. The solution starts with understanding the causes of these problems.

Chronic conditions come from the degradation of your body’s ability to maintain and heal itself.

Your body is operated for you by an “onboard intelligence,” so you don’t have to spend all of your time controlling your digestion, heart rate, immune system, etc. This intelligence is the only entity that fully understands what’s preventing your body from healing and what would have to happen to change this.

So, let’s change roles. Let’s have your body’s intelligence become the doctor, and the “doctor” now can become your body’s assistant in the healing process. After all, who knows more about your body? The best doctor in the world, or your own body?

The key to success with this approach is to do what the BODY wants, not what the practitioner wants. If the practitioner decides what to do and in what sequence without finding the cause and underlying factors as to why the body got sick in the first place, he may be trying to build a roof before putting up the walls. Only the body knows what to do and in what order to do it.

As your body recovers its ability to heal and maintain itself, it will resolve (to the degree possible) the complex malfunctions and damage that created your chronic illnesses.

Awareness

This article isn’t about the technical aspects or methodology of holistic health care.

My aim is simply to make you aware that this type of health care exists.

Most patients trust their doctor as a higher authority. When your doctor (backed up by the vast and intimidating medical health care system) proclaims that you have an unresolvable, chronic disease requiring drug management for the rest of your life, you tend to believe him. And now that you “know” that nothing but drug management of your symptoms can be done, why would you look for another solution?

I just want you to know that it’s possible to find underlying causes for chronic health conditions.

I wish you the best of luck and the best of health!

Would you like to find out how you can obtain more optimal health?

If you have a chronic health condition, you are much more at risk of a poor outcome with Covid-19. CDC “People of any age with underlying medical conditions.”

Any chronic condition can decrease your immune response (digestive problems, menstrual problems, fatigue, sleep, headaches, depression, joint pain, etc.)

Recovering from a chronic health condition can take some time and quite a bit of effort on your part, but the results can be life-changing. Plus, without the stress of your chronic condition, you’re much less likely to become ill from an infectious disease.

If you think that this might be a pretty good idea, I would be happy to see you or to make a telemedicine appointment. Go Here if you are interested in finding out about this option

THE SOLUTION TO CHRONIC HEALTH CONDITIONS is to assist the body so that it continues to heal and become healthier and more resilient, finally achieving a good quality of life and stable health with labs showing normal ranges.

Pandemic Stress Solutions

Pandemic Stress Solutions

Why Less Stress is Crucial

If you have constant stress, anxiety, or worry, then your level of the hormone cortisol can become elevated. Cortisol is a hormone (a steroid) that is released when you’re stressed. It affects almost every part of your body.

If you have high cortisol long-term, it can cause weight gain, blood sugar imbalance, digestive problems, sleep issues, fatigue, nervous stomach, anxiety, depression, hormone imbalance, and immune system suppression. If you’ve had these symptoms in the past, they may come back or become worse with stress.

Long-term high cortisol can make you more susceptible to illness. Any reduction in your immune defenses you do not need right now.

But How do I Reduce My Stress in a Pandemic?

Let me break this down into two distinct problems:

  1. The world has become a dangerous place. Letting your guard down can result in getting infected, and you can still get infected no matter what you do to prevent it.
  2. You are feeling anxious, freaked out, and stressed.

Here’s what you can do to reduce these sources of stress right now:

Solutions to: “The world has become a dangerous place”

You may feel overwhelmed and somewhat powerless to deal with the constant state of danger surrounding you. You can feel this way because you can’t tell where the threat is coming from. It might be dangerous to go into the grocery store; the package you just had delivered might be dangerous to touch; your family and friends might be in danger; your financial security might be in trouble.

WHAT TO DO:

When you feel that you’re in a lot of danger, that feeling can become generalized so that pretty much everything can start to seem dangerous.

Therefore, many things can seem to be more dangerous than they really are.

Do this exercise to discover the truth for yourself, and feel much better:

The Less-Dangerous Exercise:
  1. Look around where you are sitting right now and find something that isn’t dangerous or threatening to you.
  2. Again, look around and find something that isn’t dangerous or threatening to you.
  3. Keep doing this for some time until you feel better, or feel less stressed.

You can do this exercise whenever you feel stressed as many times as you like.

Now, stop “Feeding the Stress Fire.”

Try this for a week, and you’ll be more than amazed at the results:

  • For two days, stay off the news entirely: don’t listen, watch or read it. Stay off social media that talks about politics, corona, and world events. Get the rest of your family to go along with you on this, so you’re not getting the news feed second hand. You may find that doing this creates a vacuum in your life. What will you do with all that time and attention you used to spend stressing out over the news? You could get creative, busy, and productive! Producing things that you feel are worthwhile will improve your mood, outlook, and health.
  • On day three, you’re going to take a quick look at the news for any vital information that you need to know. However, do not just reconnect with the media. First, put a filter in place. YOU decide what you need to know. Second, go directly to the sources for the information you need. These sources will supply more useful and accurate information with less spin.

To get a current report on Covid cases in Georgia, go to https://dph.georgia.gov/covid-19-daily-status-report

To get current information in the US, go to https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html

Whatever you need to know, look it up from official sites from CDC, WHO, major medical schools, state health departments, etc.

Do not read news sites or social media to get this information.

Now, you are free to avoid all news for the next two days. Feel that sense of relief?

Solutions to: “Feeling anxious, freaked out, or stressed”

You may feel you’re in a state of mental stress, or you may be squashing it down. You may have been feeling this way for weeks and have gotten used to it. But continuously feeling that something terrible is happening or will happen is going to stress you out and wear you down.

WHAT TO DO:

Get some space.

  • Screens can be quite deadly in this situation. When you spend hours looking at a screen, your entire world shrinks down to the few feet between you and the screen. Break up your time on screens with action activities: cook a meal, clean something, have a conversation, work in the yard or garden, do some exercise, reorganize your kitchen junk drawer.
  • Increase your physical space. Take walks around your neighborhood and look at things. Don’t walk and look at your feet or think of scary pictures in your mind while stressing out. Look at trees, buildings, flowers, other people. Doing this will give you space and help you feel much less stressed. After some time, if you feel stressed again—take another walk!
  • Communicate. Communication is a magical stress solution (if you avoid stressful interactions). Call a friend or family member you like to talk to, just talk about something OTHER than how bad and stressful everything is. If you have an instrument, play some music, sing, or just create a playlist. You can do this for yourself, people in your household, or put it on the web for others to hear. Draw or paint some art. Sing. Cook for someone.

A Different Way to Defend Against Infectious Illness

A big part of the COVID-19 stress is not knowing how you could have prevented it. You can feel wide-open to having something like this hit you again, making that “dangerous environment” problem even worse.

Sometimes the answer to a problem or threat isn’t where you are used to looking for it. Most of us are used to expecting our conventional doctors to have a solution to infectious diseases. Conventional medicine fights infectious diseases by attacking and killing the infectious organism. But that’s not working now.

The truth is, with infectious diseases, we need to:

Support the body rather than trying to kill the infectious organism.

There’s no vaccine or any other conventional therapy that is successful at treating COVID-19. You can bet that in the future, there will be other infectious illnesses with no conventional treatment.

You should be prepared and have your body ready to fight back rather than depending on conventional medicine coming up with a pharmaceutical hail-Mary.

What You Should Do

If you don’t have a holistic doctor, it is past time to find one.

A holistic doctor can help you to achieve your optimal health. Conventional doctors, on the other hand, diagnose pathology and prescribe drugs to treat that diagnosis. The problem with this conventional model is that the medication prescribed does not promote health. There is a time and a place for drug therapies, but they are over-prescribed in the US. The continued use of drug therapies leaves the body depleted of vital nutrients that it will need when confronted with something like COVID-19.

Some Basic Things You Can Do Right Now to Protect Yourself

Find a high-quality supply of vitamin C and zinc and start taking these. There are other effective nutrients that your holistic doctor can help you with. If you’re having trouble finding these supplements, contact my clinic as we have sources that haven’t run dry yet.

If you find the information in this post useful, please don’t keep it to yourself!

We are genuinely all in this one together.

The Trail Out of Diabetes, Blood Pressure, Heart Disease & Obesity

The Trail Out of Diabetes, Blood Pressure, Heart Disease & Obesity

The Trail Out of Diabetes, Blood Pressure, Heart Disease & Obesity

In many cases, there may be a way to prevent future damage to your life from your diagnosis.

It is NOT an “easy way out,” however.

If you possess some grit, determination, and self-discipline, if you are very upset with your diagnosis, and if you want a do-over on what the rest of your life may hold in store: read on.

I’ve found that diabetes, blood pressure, and heart disease can be confusing for many of my patients. These diagnoses can be terrifying, but at the same time, you may not have many (or any) symptoms directly related to the diseases. Often, patients have seemingly-unrelated symptoms that are making them miserable (joint pain, allergies, digestive problems, etc.), but the “pre-diabetes” or “high blood pressure” or “heart disease” aren’t directly producing much obvious trouble.

Most people in the US die from one or more of these illnesses, so your fear and upset with your diagnosis are correctly placed. “Health and Economic Costs of Chronic Diseases” CDC

Here are the basic facts you must know if you would prefer to live a long and active life without fear of disease.

  • For these diseases, medical treatment is limited to drugs to try to manage the disease process. There is no “cure.” If you’ve asked, your doctor will have told you that your only option is drug management and dietary changes to help you live as long as possible, but that the diseases are life-long.
  • I have worked with these cases for 27 years, and my experience has been extremely positive. Most patients respond very well to lifestyle changes and support to assist their bodies to heal themselves. Diabetes lab tests may become healthy, blood pressure and cholesterol drugs may no longer be needed; the weight comes off, etc. I don’t treat the disease. Instead, I support the body’s self-healing processes to help it overcome stress and heal itself.
  • These diseases continuously cause damage to your body, so the sooner you begin the process of recovery, the more successful you are likely to be.
  • To be successful, you’ll have to be dedicated and willing to go the long-haul. Helping your body to heal from these conditions isn’t easy or quick.

Understanding the Causes

These diseases carry a stigma of a poor or unhealthy lifestyle. Your doctor may even “blame” you for getting sick. “It’s all that extra weight I’ve been telling you to get rid of that’s causing your diabetes.”

No one will blame you for getting the flu or a cold. But with chronic illness, there’s an element of personal responsibility. You ate too much junk food, failed to exercise, drank too much alcohol, and now look what’s happened to you.

The truth is that this “personal responsibility” is mostly fiction. We live in a world where most of the available food is disease-causing. We’re bombarded nonstop with food-fiction designed to entice us into eating destructive foods and eating volumes more than we should. Our government supports and condones the sale of these foods, which are deliberately designed to be biologically addictive.

Chronic disease is supposed to be “non-communicable” in that it’s not passed on by bacteria or virus from one person to another. The science on this is quite a different story. You’re much more likely to be overweight if your family and friends are overweight.(1) Where you live is one of the most statistically important factors in whether you have a chronic disease, even more important than your genetics.(2) Culture plays a huge role in chronic disease, as is evidenced by comparing chronic disease in Europe vs. the US. Europeans have dramatically less heart disease, for example than Americans.

Non-communicable chronic diseases are, it turns out, highly infectious.

What Happens Insulin Resistance

The single most significant cause of chronic disease is our “industrial diet.” Our food is loaded with processed grains, sugars, starches, and refined fats. As you continue to eat quicky-absorbed sugars and bread, pasta, rice, and potatoes, the systems in your body designed to handle sugar begin to fail.

Most of the food you eat is broken down by your body into sugars. These sugars are moved into your cells by the hormone insulin. Insulin moves the sugar out of your blood and into your cells, where they produce your energy. If this system is overloaded by the high sugar and carbohydrate content of your diet, over a long period, you’ll develop “insulin resistance.” Now your cells require more insulin to absorb the same amount of sugar. As the insulin resistance increases, it eventually requires more insulin than your pancreas can manufacture to absorb your sugar. At this point, the sugar begins to build up in your bloodstream, causing inflammation, kidney stress, nervous system damage, weight gain, and many more chronic problems.

The first sign that you have a problem is not your blood sugar; it’s a high level of insulin. High insulin will make your body deteriorate. Insulin resistance leads to premature aging, along with heart disease, stroke, cancer, and dementia. High insulin causes weight gain in the belly area, unhealthy appetite, high cholesterol, low HDL, high triglycerides, thickening of the blood, and increased risk of cancer, Alzheimer’s, and depression.

The Solution

Undoing the dietary causes of these diseases is a significant part of recovering from them. However, if you’ve tried to do this in the past, you may know the difficulty involved. You’ll need a plan, a program, and a team to work with to be successful with permanent diet and lifestyle changes.

Changing your diet is essential, but only about 30% of what you’ll need to do to recover.

The rest of your healing will depend on accurate information and testing to be effective. Despite the uniformity of medical treatment for these diseases, each person develops similar symptoms from different sources. To be successful, you will need to do a treatment program that is individualized and based on accurate testing.

Clinical nutrition is essential in helping your body to heal and rebuild damaged tissue. Cells are made of nutrition (food), so providing the exact “replacement parts” needed in the required quality and quantity is a vital requirement for healing.

A major reason your body can’t heal from a chronic condition is excessive stress. It’s like cutting your finger and not bandaging it; the dirt gets in the cut, and infection sets in, which prevents healing. The bandage reduces the stress on the wound so that the body can heal normally. In your body, stress from bacteria, virus, fungus, toxins, allergies, metals, etc. can prevent healing from occurring, even when clinical nutrition is used. These stressors must be identified with testing and labs, then natural means of reducing the stress can be used (acupressure, homeopathy, supplements, herbs, etc.)
