Functional Laboratory Testing in Marietta, Georgia
Testing With a Purpose
If you’ve been dealing with health problems for years, you may already have a folder full of lab results. Before ordering more, it makes sense to ask: What do we need to learn—and how will that information help guide your care?
At Alternative Health Atlanta, laboratory testing is part of your personalized EvecticsSM program. We use it alongside your health history, symptoms, clinical observations, and muscle-response testing to help develop and refine your recommendations.
How We Choose Your Labs
We start with your evaluation.
Your doctor considers your history and symptoms together with our assessment findings, including muscle-response testing. From this, we develop a working understanding of your concerns and identify questions that laboratory testing may help answer.
That gives each recommended test a specific purpose.
For example, if the evaluation raises questions about thyroid function, laboratory testing can provide measurements that help us investigate further. We explain what we recommend and why, and review relevant results you already have.
The goal is to select useful tests for your case, rather than order the same extensive panel for everyone.
What Types of Labs Do We Use?
Depending on your evaluation, recommendations may include:
- Standard blood testing: Blood counts, metabolic panels, blood sugar, cholesterol, and markers of inflammation.
- Digestive testing: Different labs may utilize stool, saliva, or blood.
- Antibody testing: Measures likely sensitivities to foods and environmental substances.
- Hormone testing: Selected blood or urine tests to investigate hormone-related questions.
- Nutritional testing: Measurements of vitamins, minerals and other tests selected to investigate nutritional concerns.
- Genetic testing: Nutritional genetic testing is targeted to identifying areas of weakness that can be supported using nutrition.
- Tissue Mineral Analysis: Done with a small hair sample, we obtain information on minerals and metals.
- Other specialized testing: When there is a specific question worth investigating, we’ll explain the test, its purpose, and its limitations.
You won’t need every type of testing. We discuss the recommended tests and their costs before you decide to proceed.
How We Use Your Results
A lab report is useful when it helps inform what happens next.
We review the findings with you and consider them alongside your history, symptoms, and the rest of your evaluation. Our clinic also uses muscle-response testing as part of its process for selecting and reassessing nutritional support.
The value is in how these pieces inform your overall program.
Your recommendations may include clinical nutrition, acupressure, and diet and lifestyle guidance. When appropriate, follow-up laboratory testing helps us review changes and reconsider recommendations.
